City-owned Utilities Kingston has a program to help local homeowners offset the costs of protecting their homes from flooding - a far too common hazard in Kingston.
For eligible homeowners, the Preventative Plumbing Program will pay 50 to 75 per cent of work such as:
- new sump pits and pumps
- installation of backflow prevention valves
- disconnection of existing sump pumps
- capping of foundation-drain connections.
The city is funding these measures because they help reduce the load on city service pipes as a whole and lower the risk of flooding. For detailed information, follow this link:
